Gazibeyli Özdemir Ataseven Elementary School was opened in Samsun Bafra. The school built by Özdemir Ataseven, Chairman of Yalova Özata Shipyard was opened with a ceremony.
The Ceremony was attended by Özdemir Ataseven, Chairman of Yalova Özata Shipyard; Oğuz Alp Çağlar, District Governor of Alaçam acting for Bafra District Governor; Zihni Şahin, Mayor of Bafra; Mehmet Ali Katipoğlu, District Manager of National Education; Bayram Koparan, Mukhtar of Gazibeyli Village; and a large number of citizens and students.
After a moment of silence and singing the national anthem, the addresses started. First, Bayram Koparan, Mukhtar of Gazibeyli Village addresses to the public. Mukhtar Koparan thanked District Governor Halis Arslan; Zihni Şahin, Mayor of Bafra; Mehmet Ali Katipoğlu, District Manager of National Education and Özdemir Ataseven for their contributions.
Özata Chairman Özdemir Ataseven made a speech after Mukhtar Koparan and said: “Although our village is not as crowded as before, you know how to welcome people. Some friends may be saying ‘you built a school but there are not many students’. Well, no problem. Maybe the students of this school will be a general manager, a mayor, a prime minister or president in the future. They may help the country step into new age or take service to the hind end of creation. They may be good people for their country. The number does not count. It is not important how many fruit you collect from a tree. It is the quality of that fruits that counts. This is how we look at the students. Therefore I undertake this: Whatever there is in the infrastructure of modern schools, we will have them here.”
Then, Mehmet Ali Katipoğlu, District Manager of National Education addressed the public and said that he hoped this contribution of Özdemir Ataseven would be a good example for the other businessmen in and out of the city. “We are opening this beautiful school provided for our children for better education. The student studying in this school was having difficulties in winter. Therefore it needed a good repair. When our Mukhtar came to us with a nice suggestion, we were very happy. I would like to thank our esteemed businessman Özdemir Ataseven for this.”
Zihni Şahin, Mayor of Bafra, stated that he was very happy for being together in this ceremony and said, “We are excited by these services provided by the esteemed businessmen of Bafra. I congratulate and thank them and especially Özdemir Ataseven for this. I hope this school will bring good deeds to Gazibeyli Borough, to our district and to our country. I hope our charitable businessmen will have prosperous revenues.”
Finally, Oğuz Alp Çağlar, District Governor of Alaçam also made a speech. He said that whenever they had a problem they went to the charitable businessmen. “This charitable behavior of the Ataseven family made us really happy. This will be a good example for the other businessmen. Public opportunities can be used to a certain extent. When additional works are required, we look for charitable businessmen. We go to them and get positive answers from most of them. Everybody is happy to serve for our children, education and country. We entrust the school to you. I would like to thank to all those that contributed.”
After the speeches Resul Bayrak, a student from kindergarten cited the national anthem. After the poem called “BAYRAK (The flag)” recited by the 4th grade students the ribbon was cut. The plaques prepared by Gazibeyli Mukhtar were presented to Özdemir Ataseven and the others.
